Racing Highlights:
With the extremely hot temperatures, the air density altitude was roughly 2100 feet above sea level. This makes it incredibly difficult to achieve low 1/4 mile times and produce engine horsepower. But, even with the harsh conditions, the MAXUS 09 Drag Showdown was a huge success!
Jim Edwards drove all the way from Canada to race in this event. He put down the fastest time of the day of 11.28 @ 123mph with his 95 Maxima VQ35 while spraying nitrous. He also went on to win the Nissan Unlimited class and Quick 8 at the end of the day!
Aaron Kimball of NWP Engineering made his way from North Carolina to be at this event after spending the entire winter completing the 92 Maxima VQ35 engine swap. After qualifying 2nd next to Jim Edwards' All Motor 95 Maxima, he went on to beat him in the finals with a 12.80 to his 12.88. The margin of victory was only 8 thousandths of a second due to Jim's quick reaction time. The cars appeared to be dead locked the entire way down the track. It was definitely the single tightest and most exciting race the entire day with the NWP Engineering car only winning by exactly 1 foot and 3 inches! Aaron's best All Motor time of the day was a 12.76 at 108mph.

GENERAL RULES & INFORMATION

SN 90 or newer helmet mandatory on all entries running 13.99 or quicker
-
Batteries must be securely mounted.
-
Major body panels must remain on vehicle, such as, hood, fenders, doors, trunk lids, etc., in order to ressemble a car, and may be replaced by lightweight replacement panels.
-
All racing will be Heads-Up with 4 tenths Pro Tree. The first car to cross the finish line wins the round.
-
First-round eliminations are based on a ladder using the fastest time trial ET (i.e. In the first round, the #1 qualifier races the last place qualifier)
-
103 unleaded as well as a large selection of leaded race fuels are available at track (see MIR's website for details)
-
Racers may participate in more than one class for an extra $10 per class as long as they qualify under the Class Rules. Fee payable at the MAXUS registration table.

A non-elimination, test-and-tune class designed for any vehicle type attending our event. Driver must be a Maxima enthusiast. :) Advance class registration not required.
QUICK 8
Designed to showcase the 8 quickest cars at MAXUS 09. All entries are permitted regardless of vehicle manufacturer, including non-Nissan entries in the Grudge Class. Advance class registration not required.
After all elimination rounds are finished, the 8 quickest vehicles of the day will be determined and will meet for an 'all out', 'no holds barred', heads up challenge! Proper driver etiquette is still encouraged.
The first round of eliminations will utilize a ladder system based on your quickest ET of the day. The first car to cross the finish line wins the round.
